All You Need to Know About Breastfeeding

What is Breastfeeding?

 Its the breast milk given to a baby for the first year of life. It is the best milk for babies.it is crucial for the development of cells, tissue and healthy life. At six months, other foods may be introduced but it is necessary to continue breastfeeding as close to a year as possible for the physical and emotional wellbeing of the baby.
Similarly, it is important to know that breastfeeding not only benefits the baby but also the mother.

Benefits of breastfeeding to the baby.

1. Breast milk contains all the nutrients needed in the right amount by the baby for
  his/her age.
2. Breast milk helps to streghten the baby's natural defense
3. Breast milk reduce the risk of disease (e.g infections and allergies).
4. Breastfeeding creates an emotional bond between the mother and child.
5. Breast milk is an easy food for the baby to digest.

Benefits of the breastfeeding to the mother.

1. Breastfeeding stimulates the hormunes that help the body recover from pregnancy
  and birth.
2. It helps to burn extra calories and lose weight.
3. Breastfeeding helps reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancers as well as
  osteoporosis.
4. It saves money the family.

NUTRITION TIPS NEEDED DURING LACTATION
1. You need 500k calories more per day to provide for your need and the baby's.
2. Focus on the consumption of cereals, fruits and vegetables which contain fibres and
  healthy nutrients.
3. Always think of food items that contains calcium and iron, and eat dairy products.
4. Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water everyday.
5. Avoid consumption of cconfectioneries and more generally empty calories.
6. Avoid drinking alcohol, smoking and medicines that have not been described by the
  Doctors.
